"Chót vót trên cao đỉnh Suối Giàng
Một vùng rộng lớn giống chè Shan
Cây to tán rộng vươn trong gió

Chuyện kể rằng:
“Ngày xửa, ngày xưa khi đất trời mới hình thành, đất rất gần trời nên mặt đất nóng như đổ lửa, không có cỏ cây mọc lên được. Có một hôm, bỗng dưng trời đất rung chuyển kỳ lạ, xuất hiện một Tiên nữ xinh đẹp (Tiếng Mông gọi là: Gâux Njuôz) bay từ đâu đến và gieo hạt giống ở khắp mọi nơi trên thế gian. Khi đến vùng núi cao này thì hạt giống đã hết, chỉ còn vài hạt thuốc quí, nàng Tiên bèn rắc mấy hạt thuốc đó lên vùng đất này.
Thấm thoát hàng nghìn năm trôi qua cây thuốc quí đã mọc lên xen với cây rừng và thành rừng nguyên sinh nên trong rừng có rất nhiều cây thuốc quí, đó chính là cây chè Shan tuyết cổ thụ Suối Giàng ngày nay”. Vì vậy, nếu có ai hỏi đến cây chè này có từ bao giờ thì các cụ nói là: Cây chè này sinh ra cùng Trời và Đất. Cũng một phần vì truyền thuyết xưa kể lại như vậy mà Cây chè Shan thuyết cổ thụ tại Suối Giàng từ lâu đã được mệnh danh là Thủy tổ của cây chè cổ thụ.
Trên thế giới, những cây chè chỉ sống tới trăm năm đã trở thành bảo vật, vậy mà tại đây lại có hàng vạn gốc chè mọc thành rừng chè có niên đại tới cả năm trăm năm.
Với thân hình to lớn, nhuộm màu trắng mốc, rêu phong, uốn lượn nhiều cành buộc người hái phải trèo lên mới thu hái được. Những búp chè Tuyết Shan rất to như thể đã hấp thụ tràn trề sinh khí của đất trời, vạn vật, trên bề mặt còn phủ lớp lông trắng như tuyết. Mỗi cây chè cổ thụ cũng đã chịu hàng trăm năm trong sương lạnh, trong gió buốt nơi Suối Giàng – đỉnh núi mờ sương để cho đâm chồi những búp chè thượng hạng, quý như dược liệu hiếm thấy.
Có thể khẳng định rằng, giá trị của trà Shan Tuyết cổ thụ Suối Giàng không chỉ dừng lại ở hương vị đặc biệt của một đồ uống, nó mang theo trong đó cả dư vị của thời gian, cả tinh túy của đất trời, của người Mông nơi đây, cho nên càng uống càng đắm, càng ngấm, càng say cái hương, cái tình, cái hồn của núi rừng Suối Giàng – Yên Bái.

The story tells that:
“Once upon a time, when heaven and earth were created, the earth was so close to the sky that it became as hot as fire without trees around. One day, suddenly the land and sky shook strangely, and from nowhere, a gorgeous fairy (named Gâux Njuóz in Hmong) appeared to sow the seeds everywhere in the world. However, when reaching the high mountains, the fairy realized that there were only a few special herb seeds left. With no choice, she spread those seeds on the land.
For thousands of years, the precious herbs have grown, interleaving with forest trees to develop a primeval forest. Hence, there are many precious herbs in the area, which are now the ancient Shan Tuyet tea trees in Suoi Giang today. So, if someone wonders how old these tea trees are, the old replies: The tea trees were born with Heaven and Earth. Also partly because of the myth, the ancient Shan Tuyet tea trees in Suoi Giang have long been known as the ancestor of the ancient tea trees.
In the world, tea trees that have existed only for a hundred years are known as priceless treasures, but in this land, there are thousands of five-hundred-year-old tea roots growing together into a tea forest.
Because an ancient Shan Tuyet is a huge, white moldy and mossy tea tree with many winding branches, the tea bud pickers have to climb up to collect the buds. Tuyet Shan tea buds are very large as if they have absorbed the vitality of heaven and earth and universe. Moreover, the bud surface is also covered with a snow-white coat. As each of these tea trees has gone through hundred years in the bitter mist and wind at Suoi Giang, which is placed on the top of misty mountain, the high-class and precious tea buds like rare herbs sprout.
It is no exaggeration to say that the value of Shan Tuyet in Suoi Giang is because of not only a special tea flavor but also the aftertaste of time as well as the essence of heaven and earth of the H'mong land. That is the reason why the more you drink it, the more you see it, and the more allured you are with the scent, love, and soul of the Suoi Giang Mountains and forests in Yen Bai.
